Video Games: Mirror's Edge

OK, I'm not a full blown reviewer, but I had to say something about Mirror's Edge.

It's really a shame that this game hasn't sold better.  This was a great new set of ideas (from E.A. of all companies!) and the game works really well.  The running and feeling of a flow is just about perfect... when it's going right.  For me, that wasn't a LOT, but that has a lot to do with me sucking.  I'm looking forward to playing it through again.

The one thing the game really needs is a mode where there are no enemies on the level.  The combat in the game is the part that is most universally disliked, and I can't disagree too much.  I also made it harder on myself by refusing to use guns (those guys with the .50 cals are tough to take down by hand!).  Still, I was willing to stick with it and play though the whole thing... which is quite an achievement for me!  And I'm looking forward to doing it again (and using guns this time... that appears to make a huge difference).

Fair Warning: This game hit a lot of my buttons exactly right.  The whole Parkour idea has had my attention for a few years and I was really excited about the game.  I still am... I really hope they make a sequel and tweak the few things that weren't perfect.

Highly recommended!
